What Video Fetcher is, what it does, and who built it.
Video Fetcher 2026 is a desktop application for batch downloading videos from online platforms. Built on top of the powerful open-source yt-dlp engine, it provides a clean, straightforward graphical interface that makes managing large download queues simple — without needing to use the command line.
It supports parallel downloads across multiple slots, channel and profile scraping, duplicate detection, queue management and automatic metadata saving. Everything you need to download and organise a large video library efficiently.
MetaFetch is its companion — a focused tool for fetching metadata for videos that were downloaded without it. Together they form a complete pipeline from downloading to organising.
Video Fetcher started as a practical tool to solve a real problem — downloading and managing video content efficiently for offline use. What began as a simple bash script grew into a fully featured desktop application.
The project grew out of a genuine interest in how software is built — from shell scripting, through Python, into compiled applications with proper GUIs. Each iteration added something new, and the result is the suite of tools you see here.
All apps are free to download and use with no strings attached.
